An idiom in Chinese meaning that mother’s love is like the ocean. And it evoked in me:

Tsunami

Drowning

Waves

Overwhelming

Scary

Hurtful

Like love, the ocean is all encompassing, larger than life.

Like the ocean, love can sustain and nurture.

Like love, the ocean can create and destroy.

Life is navigating the ocean of love. If I stop struggling and see that all the monsters are my brothers and sisters. And the toss and turns of the water is the nature of it. Perhaps instead of fighting against it, I can accept its many iterations. Be it unsolicited advises, food, attention seeking, lashing out, guilt . . .

It is love in its many forms. And I don’t have to judge it - bracing for the waves, fearing the riptides, avoiding the currents, they are different in form but all made from the same body of love/ocean.
